On the up and up.

Caleb is better. I could tell because he demanded breakfast immediately upon waking up this morning and then was too wiggly to actually eat it, which is the story of his life (and the cause for his oh-so impressive weight). Since he was pretty much better yesterday, too, I only kept him quarantined from other children until 5:30 tonight when he had a make-up soccer game. He was absolutely thrilled.

Probably a soccer game was not the best choice for his re-entry to the social world. Since he's had only one and a half days' worth of food since last Friday, he was a little bit on the tired side throughout the game. It's not like he's ever particularly involved in games (he prefers distracting the other team by pretending to be a superhero or asking them questions to actually stealing the ball or passing it to his teammates), but today he was consistently ten feet behind the 11-headed monster of all the other kids on the field. The other problem was that it didn't occur to me to cinch his soccer shorts up to make up for the poundage he's lost over the past five days, so he had to keep hiking them up to avoid revealing his red pirate undies. Whoopsie!

So: thank you for your prayers and well wishes. We are recovered at last, and I have disinfected our house from top to bottom. My advice to you: if you hear of anyone who's had the flu or whose kid is barfing, run far, far away. They told us at the ER that Caleb was about the 50th kid that day with the unstoppable vomit. (Lucky all of us!)

Tomorrow, as Caleb's first day of summer, we're going to do something fun. Something that doesn't involve toilets in any way. Don't even try to stop us.
