This last week was Vacation Week, so called because Paul had the week off. Rather than leaving town and doing something fun, we opted to stay put and do something fun. Among other things, we spent Thursday and Friday at Lagoon.
My hopes for our Thursday excursion were not high. I was worried that Caleb wouldn't be eligible to go on many rides and that we'd just end up waiting for each other while we went on rides one person at a time. But behold! Lagoon's measuring stick appears to be shorter than ours (since I thought Caleb was 42 inches tall, but he was more than 46 by the rulers at the rides), so he was tall enough--and brave enough!--to go on nearly all the rides: the white roller coaster, the Colossus, and so on and so forth.
And, because Caleb was awesome, he was still thrilled to go on the baby rides, too. He threw his arms in the air while the sole rider on Bulgy the Whale,
and he wanted to go on the baby boats over and over.
Of course, bumper cars was a big hit with him,
as was the ride with a gun.
The only ride he was scared of was the ferris wheel. Go figure. CC, on the other hand, loved it.
She did not love the merry-go-round. I had to take her off her kitty halfway through the ride because going up and down was just too much for her.
And, to add to her misery of not getting to nap in her own bed (she refuses to sleep anywhere else), we decided to go back to Lagoon a second day. On our way in, the poor child got sunscreen rubbed in her eyes, and (predictably) it was horrible. Her face puffed up and she could barely open her eyes. Long after she'd stopped crying, her eyes watered--she had tears running down her cheeks for a couple of hours.
Poor little thing. It's good for our budget that there was nothing baby-worthy for sale nearby, because I was willing to get her anything to see if it could improve her day just a little. I had to settle for giving her a lid to a Pringle's container (all of her toys were anathema to her at that point).
Paul also had a great time, as you can see from this picture, where he is clearly trying to get someone to come and jump on his lap. Maybe the ride attendant? I don't know for sure.
And? Lagoon is awesome again. Who knew they had all those roller coasters! I'd like to go back again soon, with more people so I can go on rides with people who I'm not afraid are going to be too skinny for the restraints.
P.S. Somehow, my nursing cover got left in the trunk both days, so rather than walk all the way back to car to get a piece of cloth that CC would try to strangle me with, I just whipped it out. Three times. I was like, "What? So I just exposed my boobie. At least I'm not white trash, okay? Go eat your churro."
That picture of Cecily makes my eyes water. Poor sweet baby. And now I want a churro.
ReplyDeleteI am so, so glad that a bunch of your posts just came up on my reader. Seriously, I have relished in catching up on your blog, and have found myself laughing. A lot. This post got an especially high number of chuckles. Why aren't you writing a humor blog, again?
