Conversations.

Tonight:

Me, pulling cooling chocolate chip cookies off a hot pan with my bare hand: Ouch! This is hot!

Caleb: Why don't you use a spatula?

Me: Because for some reason they're all in the oven. I mean dishwasher.

Caleb, laughing: Why did you say "oven"? Ha!

Me: Because I'm tired. I don't get enough sleep!

Caleb: I'll give you seven hours of sleep.

Me: Really? How are you going to do that?

Caleb: I'm going to calm down Daddy.

************
On Friday, we instituted our long-pondered allowance program in which Caleb receives a whopping $0.50 every two weeks.  Saturday morning:

Caleb: Why do you want to stay in bed today?

Me: Because I didn't get enough sleep last night.

Caleb: Why not?

Me: Because I had a little trouble falling asleep.

Caleb: Why not?

Me: Because I was worrying.

Caleb: What were you worrying about?

Me: Money. There are some things I want to do, but I don't have enough money to do them.

And now he has his own library card!
Caleb: Why don't you have enough money?

Me: Because I don't have a job.

Caleb: Well, I'll tell you what. After I'm done saving up my money for a Star Wars guy, I'm going to save up all my money and give it to you so you can buy whatever you want!

[Such a sweet little man.]
