Of interest*.

My belly button has popped. This never happened with Caleb because I was fat.

I am, perhaps insensitively, much more interested in what this baby will look like than I was in what Caleb was going to look like. I think this is because my expectations have been set high. Caleb, we must all agree, was a cute baby:

So now I can't help asking myself: in what way(s) will the baby resemble Caleb? That is, what do our kids look like as a category? --And, perhaps most compelling: the question of the dimple. Really: who would've thought that either Paul or I would have a dimpled child! So charming. And now I have a niece with a dimple in the exact same spot. Coincidence? Recessive Wheeler gene? Will Baby Sister answer this question decisively once and for all? Or will she have smooth cheeks like the rest of us? Only time can answer this intriguing question**.

Last thing about pregnancy (today) and then I'm done (for now). At 35.5 weeks, I feel like an old woman. It's possible that this is because I am old(-ish) for a pregnant woman, or that 40 weeks is just too long of a gestation period. Hard to say. What I can say is that I'm glad I'm not an elephant.

*Perhaps.
**In anticipation of imminent arrival, I've entered a contest for a free photo session, which you can enter, too. The cute baby at the top in that crocheted hat is the baby of a friend--actually, the childhood friend of my sweet sister-in-law. I am in love with that picture.
