- I finished Caleb's Halloween costume. (So it's mid-September. So what? Think I'm a fanatic if you will, but I'm having a baby next month. I'm makin' hay while the sun shines, folks.) He's going to be "an army guy." I realize most people might call this a soldier, but I have a deficiency regarding knowledge of our nation's troops and the various branches of the military. To me, they're all army guys.
- My doctor gave me some silver nitrate sticks so that I can cauterize my bleeding varicose veins at my leisure. Next to a home varicose-vein-removal-laser kit, I can't think of anything I'd rather have.
- Remember our aspen grove? Today, three teenaged boys knocked on our door and asked if they could remove it for me. I almost hugged them all. I told them I'd give them 10 bucks each, and they said, "Thirty, total? We only need fifteen. We'd take five each." For a second I thought maybe they were the three Nephites. I planned to give them ten each anyway, but after they worked their tails off for four hours in the hot sun, Paul felt guilty enough to up the ante to fifteen. In spite of their impressively increased profit, I'm not sure if they were more thrilled with the outcome than I am. Three cheers for teenagers without jobs! Three cheers for a backyard without an aspen grove! And three more for not having to do it myself at 8 months pregnant!
- I made this for the treat for FHE tonight. And I will be making it again. Oh, yes, I will.
- And finally, last night Caleb decided to sing my belly a song. It went like this: "Your name is Cecily! Your name is Cecily! When you come out, you'll be so excited to see me! I'm your big brother! But you're gonna be really, really cold. But don't worry 'cause I'll be right there."
And here is an unrelated picture. It still happened lately, though, so it still fits with the titular theme. |
I love the really really cold bit of Caleb's song. True and very thoughtful of the little man.
ReplyDeleteWhat a character. Sorry about the veins. The things women go through for children!!! I'm excited to see pics of the costume! Yay for the lack of an aspen grove!
ReplyDeleteI love you Melissa! (and Caleb, and Paul)
