He said in the car on the way to school, "My goal is to get to kindergarten excited!" (Check.)
Our neighbors pulled up right behind us, and their little girl got out of the car looking nervous. Caleb took hold of her hand; she relaxed visibly, and they were off.
Apparently, he sat next to a girl named Riley (not our neighbor, which rather disgusted him), read a book about Mrs. Bindergarten, played hard at recess, drew a pirate, went on a treasure hunt (which culminated in the principal's office), and brought home a package of fruit snacks that said, "My first day of kindergarten was sweet!" In all, a success.
P.S.: Also of note: I did not cry. I teared up a bit when their little line went marching off into the school, but I was talking to my neighbor and recovered quickly.
So sweet that Caleb took her hand. I almost teared up myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a grown-up boy! I'm glad it was a success.
